Adventure 16 unlocked!

Thanks to your brave pledges, we have reached $225K and unlocked a 16th adventure for Volume 2: "Everybody Dies Playing Fetch"! And as part of that adventure, we've also commissioned a new map to be created by our friends at Moonlight Maps (who created the two large maps for the first book). Volume 2 now has more adventure content than Volume 1! Huzzah!

We're also that much closer to the next two stretch goals as we enter the final five days of our campaign:

• Stretch goal at $250K: Everybody's Books Improve! We gussy up your book to look like a premium edition, with spot gloss on the cover and a ribbon to keep your place in-between reads. 
• Stretch goal at $275K: Build Your Own TPK! If we unlock this stretch goal, we will add a new chapter designed to help you create your own FPWKK adventure. We will provide a new, original Big Bad (with beautiful art) and a series of adventure hooks that you can choose from. Take these structural elements, apply your imagination, and create your own tragic story! We've never tried something like this before and we're very excited by the possibilities.

Thanks for all of your pledges, and please keep spreading the word as we head into the home stretch! The campaign ends this Friday!!!

Play test signups open tomorrow, Tuesday 9/29!

Tomorrow we will post the signup form for play testing adventures in Volume 2. If you've looked at the back pages of Volume 1, you know that we celebrate all of our playtesters and their invaluable contributions to making the book the best it can be:

Signups will be open for the final four days of the campaign (through this Friday, October 2nd) and are reserved for Volume 2 Backers only. We cannot guarantee a spot for everyone - last time we had over 300 groups sign up - but we will take as many as we can possibly manage. More details to follow tomorrow!

New art revealed!

We've been hard at work on the book contents, including commissioning art and maps from our favorite artists and cartographers. We will be revealing a few pieces each day this week to tempt and tease you, starting with these pieces below [SPOILER ALERT FOR PLAYERS!]:

Your first new creation has emerged

The norglurr is a new demon race that takes the stage at the end of "Everybody Dies at the Theater." The description of this huge fiend reads as follows:

"A norglurr appears like a massive, bipedal kin to a gibbering mouther. Covered with eyes and mouths on all areas of its body, these demons see all and judge all. Their skin is typically mottled-black, while their many long tongues are red and their multitude of pupil-less eyes are glowing white. 

"Highly intelligent and judgmental, norglurrs relish crafting cruel insults to demoralize their foes, often spitting out a half-dozen at a time from their various mouths. The demons also delight in using their aura of reputational damage to turn their enemies into creatures as hideous and repulsive as themselves."

We can't wait for our play test group (that could be you!) to give this new demon race a spin. He's ready for his close-up!

Next stretch goals - we're so close!

As we head into the campaign's final week, more opportunities to improve Everybody Dies, Volume 2 beckon on the nearby horizon:

• Next stretch goal [$225K]: Adventure 16 added! More adventures than Volume 1?! That's where we're headed if you help us get to $225K. "Everybody Dies Playing Fetch" is an adventure that Charlie ran at the Too Many Games convention last year, and it was a blast. Get this worthy addition included in the book, and put Charlie to work!
• Stretch goal 2 [$250K]: Everybody's Books Improve! We gussy up your book to look like a premium edition, with spot gloss on the cover and a ribbon to keep your place in-between reads. 
• Stretch goal 3 [$275K]: We will reveal this when we unlock the $225K goal. Just letting you know it's coming.

Thanks to you, we've passed yet another stretch goal! Here's how your support just made Volume 2 even better:

• Stretch Goal unlocked: Two original monsters added! Now that we've hit $200K, we will create new, unique Big Bads for both "Theater" and "Votes," with original art and complete 5.5e stat blocks! (Spoiler: We have already started work with the amazing artist Crystal Sully to create the extremely powerful demon for "Theater," and we cannot stop laughing about him.)

But what if we added two brand-new creatures, and you could be one of the first parties EVER to die in their monstrous hands? You amazing people have done it again

Since our last update, you have carried our campaign past not one, but TWO additional stretch goals! Here's how your pledges have made Volume 2 even better:

• Adventure 14 added! Everybody Dies Challenging Lord Soth: Travel to Sithicus, the haunted domain of the legendary Knight of the Black Rose. The leaders of Krynn are relying on you to best the undead lord by combat, diplomacy, or perhaps a bit of guile - are you up to the task? (Our first level 4 adventure ever!)

• Character backgrounds doubled! Even if your character is going nowhere, they must have come from somewhere. Were you "Destined for Greatness"? Did you come from "Old Money"? We've increased the Background options from 5 to 10, so every character can feel truly special... until the Big Bad reminds them that they're not.

Let's keep feeding this monster

We're less than $25K away from matching Volume 1 by adding a 15th adventure! "Everybody Dies Stumping for Votes" is the very rare story that we've performed live twice - although those shows took very different turns! - so Jon should have no trouble writing it all down. Let's put him back to work, pronto!
